U9T1 squeek out a tight one vs Mitchell
The Mitchell Meteors rolled into Wallace Arena and gave a great effort giving the young Cyclones all they could handle on Tuesday night.

Just when the Cyclones were about to welcome back Hunter Adamson from the injured reserve they lost one of their big dogs as Maddox Birk was on the shelf with an illness.  Oliver Gutknecht made his debut between the pipes and didn't disappoint as he provided a very solid performance and was all smiles after the game.

The game started slowly and saw the Meteors jump out to an early 2-0 lead.  The Cycs would get the next three with Ian Magee, Fin Long and Tyce Passmore all finding the back of the net.  The teams would trade chances all night with both goalies turning the majority of the shots away.  Brandt Donaldson was a force on the backend all night as he turned away the Meteors time after time as they tried to enter the zone.  Sully Meulensteen put in a very solid performance after manning the pipes for the last three weeks showing his versatility.  Forwards Miles Good and Alton Scholdice didn't manage to score in this one but they skated hard all night and backchecked effectively to help the team preserve a closely fought win.

It wasn't the prettiest of games but the boys didn't quit and pulled one out that could have easily went the other way.

After a practice on Thursday the team heads out on a huge road trip with stops in Port Elgin on Friday, Shallow Lake on Saturday, Drayton on Sunday and Kincardine on Monday.  Lets hope the boys all stay healthy and we have a full roster for the next little while!
