U9T1 Cycs fall to Caps
The U9T1 Cyclones got off to another great start but couldn't hold on in a 5-2 loss to the Walkerton Capitals.  The Caps would get on the board first scoring less than 2 minutes in but the Cycs would respond when Maddox Birk would wire a wrister home after some nice passing from Alton Sholdice and Hunter Adamson.

The Cycs would take the lead early in the second after Birk found Ian Magee in front who tucked it past the Caps goalie.  The Caps would respond with two markers to take a 3-2 lead into the 2nd intermission.  The Cycs would get their chances but couldn't convert, Walkerton would add two more in the final frame and skate to a 5-2 win.  In addition to their solid play, the young Cycs also killed off a penalty in the third with Adamson in the box for tripping.

Overall the team played really well and ultimately lost to a very good team.  The defence corp made up of Fin Long, Sholdice, Brandt Donaldson and Oliver Gutnecht played great all game trying to contain the Walkerton forwards and holding pucks in at the blue line.  In addition to Birk, Adamson and Magee, forwards Miles Good and Tyce Passmore did all that was asked of them, forechecking all game and also backchecking hard to help the D.  Goalie Sully Meulensteen had another solid outing and just keeps getting better with every week.

It was an extremely hard choice to pick the Cycs chain recipient this game, we could have given it to every kid but Maddox Birk stood out a little bit above the rest with his relentless hard play and adding a goal and an assist.

The boys are off to Lefroy this weekend to compete in the Lucky Puck Tournament, if they can play like they did in this one we should see success!!
