U13 Cycs top Oro 4-2
The U13 Rep Cyclones made it two for two in the Dan Bell Memorial Tournament with a hard fought battle against the Oro Thunder.
The Cycs came out strong in their first few shifts but it was Oro that opened the scoring 3 minutes into the first period. The Cyclones responded quickly scoring 30 seconds later on an unassisted effort from the tournaments leading scoring Emerson Smith. Listowel put lots of pressure on the Thunder goalie but couldn't break the tie until with a minute left Patrick Magee found Smith in the slot who buried his second of the game. Similar to when the Cycs responded when Oro scored early, the Thunder tied it up 20 seconds to send the game tied after the first period.
In the second period the Cyclones continued to produce chances but again couldn't get anything past the Oro goalie. With four minutes left in the period after some continued pressure on the cycle Smith found the net again assisted by Coleson Beirnes and P Magee. The 3-2 score held for the rest of 2nd period and for most of the 3rd until with the goalie pulled Smith got the insurance marker assisted by Beirnes. Final score was Cyclones 4 vs Thunder 2.
The team is back in action tonight at 7pm in Bracebridge vs the also undefeated Ajax Pickering Raiders.
