U13 Reps overcome slow start, beat Mid Huron 4-2
In their 2nd game of the U13B Silver Stick the Cyclones took on another familiar foe in the Mid Huron Huskies.  The Huskies came out strong in the first period with sustained pressure on the Cycs for the first few shifts, their hard work rewarded with a goal on a point shot to take a 1-0 lead.  Listowel would respond quickly as Coleson Beirnes would find Zack Brooks in the slot who would fire it home and tie the game.  The Cycs would continue to get chances but a fumble at the blue line would lead to a 2 man breakaway for Mid Huron, they would convert and take a 2-1 lead to the break.

It would only take 11 seconds for the Cycs to tie it up as Beirnes would again find Brooks alone in the slot on a carbon copy the first goal.  Midway through the period Patrick Magee would send Emerson Smith in who would slide the puck across the crease to a wide open Hudson Ireland who would bury the biscuit to give the Cycs a 3-2 lead.  The 2nd would see the Cycs find themselves in penalty trouble multiple times including a minute long 5 on 3 but the penalty killers led by veteran defensemen Jade Campbell and Grayson Matheson would hold the Huskies at bay at preserve the lead.

Through the first two periods saw the Cycs outshoot their opponent but clinging to a one goal lead.  Smith would fix that on a beautiful solo effort, blowing through the defence and sniping top shelf to provide an insurance marker.  This would be all the scoring in the game as the score held 4-2 and a Cyclones victory.

Zack Brooks would pick up player of the game with his two goals and solid play at centre.

The boys are back in action tomorrow in their third game of the tournament as they take on their rivals from highway 23 the Mitchell Meteors.
