U13 Rep Cyclones open playoffs with a win!!
It took 3 ties and two losses but on the sixth try the Cyclones finally solved their rival from highway 23 and beat the Mitchel Meteors by a score of 2-1 on Monday night to open the WOAA Tier 1 playoffs.
After a tightly contested opening period the Cyclones got on the board late in the second with a power play marker when Jade Campbell found his d partner Rory Magee open on the right point, Magee would get a point shot through that would be tipped home by Zack Brooks. A few minutes later the Cycs would strike again on the power play on another play started from the point when Campbell would get a shot through that was tipped by Patrick Magee and the rebound banged in by Tyse Hayter. The Cycs would take a 2-0 lead to the intermission, a flood and 15 minutes between them and a well earned victory to start the playoffs.
The third period would see the teams continue to play stingy defence with neither side generating much offence. The Meteors would finally solve goalie Hunter Donegan on the power play to cut the lead to one with just over 5 minutes left. The Cyclones would bend a bit in the waning minutes but they didn't break as Mitchell would pour it on trying to get the equalizer. As a team they kept the Meteors from getting to the danger zones and would start the playoffs off right with a hard earned 2-1 victory.
Next playoff action sees them travel to Ayton on Wednesday to play the West Grey Warriors, lets hope they can keep the momentum going!!!
