Good Start for Juveniles
Submitted By Mike Campbell on Sunday, January 18, 2009
The Juveniles started their playoffs Sunday afternoon with a convincing 6-0 victory over Saugeen Shores.

The first period saw both teams look sluggish and the play was carried equally between both teams. Listowel did manage to come out ahead with a 1-0 lead. Ryan Sommerville banged away at a loose puck near the side of the net to put Listowel ahead.  40 seconds into the second period Devon Haid picked a pass out of mid air from Tyler Vandehogan to give Listowel a 2-0 lead and they never looked back. They added 2 more goals,  from Matt Town and Jonathon Hunsberger to take a commanding 4-0 lead after 2 periods.   Kyle Worboys and Kyle Hollinger rounded out the scoring in the third period for a 6-0 final.   Ben Bigham stopped everything shot at him.   2 of the saves were nothing short of spectacular.   The shutout was the 4th of the season for Bigham.  Game 2 goes next Saturday night in Port Elgin at 9:15pm.   Game 3 is back in Listowel next Sunday at 7:00pm.
