Cycs take Game 1 of OMHA Quarter Finals 6-2
The Midget AE’s used 2 goal-scoring flurries to take game 1 versus the Saugeen Shores Storm.

Game 1 of this OMHA quarter Finals starting with a good pace, but you could tell both teams where a little tentative, not wanting to make a mistake. As the period continued the play opened up which resulted in a few good scoring chances by both teams however it was Michael Lockie that would open the scoring as his low hard shot seemed to fool the Storm tender (assists D. Boisvert, Cleary). With a 1 goal lead heading into the 2nd it would be the Cyc power-play that would hit the game sheet next as Eric Boisvert broke in alone and made no mistake. Then with the period nearing the end the Cycs would add 2 more just 51 seconds apart. Justin Jacklin got the first as his shot found its way through a crowd (assists E. Boisvert, Cleary), then Eric Boisvert would tuck home his 2nd of the game with Cleary & Alexander drawing the assists. The Storm showed great character not giving up and their persistence was rewarded late in the 2nd as they beat Cyc’s tender, Nathan Fletcher, with a hard shot and sending the game into the break with Listowel up 4-1. The break seemed to spark the Cycs especially Michael Lockie as tallied a quick 2 goals just 23 seconds apart. The 1st was a rocket shot from the dot with Jacklin & Fletcher drawing the assists and the 2nd, his 3rd of the game, was rebound that he controlled then found the twine (assists Martin, Elg). Saugeen would add another late in the game making the final 6-2 for the Cycs who take the 1 game led in the series.

Game 2 of the series is Saturday Feb. 7th @ 7:45 in Port Elgin, while Game 3 is back in Listowel on Monday Feb. 16th.
