Atom Cyclones play strong Peterborough Tourney
The cylclone atoms played a very strong Peterborough Liftlock Tournament coming up just short losing in the semi finals 5-4 in OT.

THe first game in fitted the young cyc's against Ganonoque. The team came out flying after the long bus trip with a convincing 6-2 victory.

Next up was Napanee, and once again the boys were ready to play. As the game went on the Listowel squad wore down the Napanee team with relentless backchecking and agressive forchecking. Listowel wins 4-1.

As the Liftlock tournament is the atoms version of the "Silver Stick" the boys were jacked up and ready to prove that they could play with these higher division teams.

Next up was a "AA" team, the Ottawa Siver Seven. Ottawa hadn't lost a game all season. Listowel jumped out to a 2-0 lead and played a very tight checking game. The great skating Ottawa team were starting to wear down the young cyc's but the boys found another gear in the third. With the score tied at 3 with 5 minutes to go the cyc's potted the eventual game winner. Cyc's win 4-3 and advance to the Championship semi final.

Sunday's championship game saw the cyc's plaing an "A" center from West Ferris (North Bay). The boys came out flying but found themselves on the penalty kill for alot of the game. With a 4-2 lead heading into the third the boys were getting wore down. West Ferris were coming at the cyc's with everyting they had and eventually tied the game with less than 2 minutes remaining. The boys were out of gas and went on to lose a heartbreaking game 5-4 in OT.

The final summary of the weekend by the coaching staff was that the boys are starting learn the game in both the offensive end and defensive end. They played with all the heart in the world all weekend. The goal at the start of the weekend was to make it to the big arena for the Championship Finals and we came up one shot short.

We the coaching staff are very proud of the all the players, they are a great group to coach and the weekend was all that everyone asked for and more.
