Bantam Regular Season Off To A Rocky Start
Submitted By Tim Matheson on Sunday, October 18, 2009
The Bantam Reps have their first three regular season games under their belt but have yet to notch a victory.

The season started on a Saturday night in Southampton against the Saugeen Shores Storm.  It could have been the long drive to the game, but the boys started a little slow and sluggish and found themselves down 2 - 0 at the end of the first.  The boys found their legs early in the second and the game was tied at 3 at the end of two periods.  The Cyclones thought they had the go-ahead goal midway through the third, but the goal was waved-off by the man in stripes saying the goal scorer was in the crease.  The action was back and forth for the remainder of the game and the Storm found the back of the net and scored the game winner with just over a minute left.

The second game took the team on another Saturday afternoon road trip to Kincardine.  Twenty seconds into the game, the Kinucks capitalized on a rebound and took an early lead.  The Cycs battled back and had a 2 - 1 lead at the end of one.  The second period was scoreless, but five goals were scored in the third.  Kincardine took the Cyclones by surprise early in the third and scored three goals in nine minutes.  The Cyclones were down 4 - 2 with less than four minutes on the clock, but they didn't give up and they fought hard and closed the gap at 3:44.  With an empty net and some good hard work around the Kincardine net, the Cycs beat the goalie and the game was tied with 2.6 seconds left on the clock.  The game ended with a 4 - 4 tie.

The first home game of the season found the Cycs up against the Goderich Sailors.  The Sailors seemed to have a little more jump and a little more desire than the Cycs did as the Sailors scored one goal in each period while the Cyclones couldn't beat the strong Goderich goaltender at all.  The game ended 3 - 0 in favour of Goderich.

The Cyclones will be looking for redemption, as well as their first win, next Sunday evening when the Saugeen Shores Storm will be travelling to Listowel.
