Cyclones Crush Kinucks
Submitted By Eric Boisvert on Sunday, November 29, 2009
The Peewee AE Cyc's cruise to a 4-0 victory over the strong Kincardine Kinucks AE team.

The boys came out flying in the first and were rewarded with a goal scored by Tyler Russell. Russell buried a rebound from a blistering shot by Riley Thompson. For the rest of the first period, and most of the second, both teams goalies stole the show stopping pucks shot from every angle. Thompson broke the Kincardine goalies' hot streak when he scored a shorthanded break-away goal with a beautiful pass from Cole Dannerman.
Both teams continued to battle hard resulting in several scoring chances for each team. Midway through the 3rd period Dannerman got his first AE goal of the year, by putting home a beautiful tic-tac-toe play from Russell and Thompson.
With the Cyc's leading 3-0, the Kincardine offense started to press hard, but struggled to get by Listowel's defenseman. Brendan Hall had an exceptional game defensively, stopping the quick Kincardine forwards several times before they could get a shot off.
Late in the third period Kincardine pulled their goalie, giving them a man advantage. Forcing hard on offense Jacob Nethercott made some key saves resulting in his 2nd consecutive shutout. With 30 seconds left, Eric Sousa broke out of the defensive end with Wade McPhee creating a 2-on-1. Sousa made the smart, unselfish play and dished the puck to McPhee, who made no mistake and buried the puck in the empty net.
Congratulations on the well deserved win boys.

The Listowel Peewee AE Cyclones will be playing Mitchell Meteors on December 5th at the Listowel Memorial Arena.
