Peewee Reps Start Season With Two Wins
Submitted By Tim Matheson on Sunday, October 17, 2010
After three weeks of exhibition games and practices in the preseason, and a record of 2 wins and four losses, the boys were ready to begin their regular season.

The season began Tuesday night in Milverton and the first goal of the season was scored by Cole McKee, assisted by Derek Fischer, just fourteen seconds into the game.  The Milverton Drives would tie it up less than two minutes later, but the Cycs would regain the lead with just over one minute left in the first.  The second goal was scored by Austin McGrath, assisted by Wade McPhee and Ben Rothwell.

The Cycs would extend their lead to three early in the second on goals from Fischer and McPhee, assists going to Reece Reading and Rothwell.  The Drives would cut the lead to two midway through the second, but they would score no more.  Josh Gottfried found the back of the net late in the second, assisted by McKee.  The shifty McKee would get his second of the night to start the third, on a pass from Curtis Jackson.  McPhee would earn his second of the night midway through the third with the assist to McKee.

Final score, seven to two.  Braeden Ellis would earn the win in the net.

The Teeswater Otters came to town on Sunday afternoon for game two of the regular season.  McKee would start the scoring midway through the first, unassisted, and would get his second goal early in the second, assisted by Reading.  McGrath would add to the lead late in the second, assisted by Fischer and Reading, but the Otters would cut that lead with just over two minutes left in the second.  The three goal lead was regained when McPhee picked up passes from Bailey Matheson and Rothwell and charged in on the Otters goalie and beat him glove side.

Matheson would pick-up a rebound early in the third to put the Cycs up by four, but the Otters fought back hard to cut the lead by two before the final buzzer sounded.  Final score, five to three.  Jacob Nethercott would earn the win between the pipes.

Next game action for the Peewees will be back at home next Sunday at 5:20 p.m. vs. Lucknow.
