TOURNAMENT PLAY & RULES

 

All teams guaranteed a minimum of 4 games.  

 

1.           All OMHA Rules and Regulations apply.

2.           Teams must abide by Municipality of North Perth facility rules and regulations (no exceptions)

3.           The Tournament Conveners reserve the right to make decisions regarding the interpretation of the Rules and Regulations, and as such, all decisions will be final.

4.           All referee calls are final.

5.           There will be a 3 minute warm-up before each game.

6.           Teams must be dressed and ready to play 10 minutes before each game.

7.           No players are to be on the ice until Zamboni doors are fully closed.

8.           Game Format:

a.           Round Robin Games: 10-10-15 minute periods, stop time
(maximum of net plus 10 goals for/goals against will be used for the below tie breaker calculations)

b.           Elimination/Playoff games:  10-10-15 minute periods, stop time.

9.           Ice will be cleaned following all games.

 

Time-Outs

1.           Teams are allowed one 30 second time-out per game during Elimination/playoff games only.

2.           No time-outs allowed during Round Robin play.

 

Points and Ranking

Points will be awarded as follows:  2 points for a win in regulation, 1 point for a tie.  Teams will be ranked in each division by point totals at the end of the Round Robin.  Tie breakers for point totals as follows, in order:

a.       Total Goals for/against %

b.       Most goals scored-round robin

c.        Fewest PIM total in round robin

d.       First goal scored in the tournament.

 

16 team tournament (4 groups of 4 teams):

-      Top two teams in each division advance to the A Championship Quarterfinals.

-      The third-place teams from each division advance to the B Championship semifinals

-      The fourth-place teams from each division advance to the C Championship semifinals

 

Overtime Format in Elimination/Playoff Games

1.           Teams will play 5 minute period of 3 on 3 sudden death. (3 Players +Goalie).  Teams will change ends for the overtime period.

2.           If there are penalties, the non-offending team will add a player (4 PLAYERS + GOALIE vs 3 PLAYER + GOALIE) until the next stoppage in play after the penalty is over at which time they will return to 3 on 3 hockey. Penalties will carry over from regulation time.

3.           Teams CAN pull goalie for extra attacker.

 

4.           If still tied after 5 minute overtime period a 3 player shootout will occur. If still tied after the 3 player shootout, a sudden death shootout will occur.  No player can shoot more then once in the shootout until everyone on the roster has shot.  Both teams will shoot at the same time during the entire shootout.

 

Suspensions

1.           Any player who receives a fighting misconduct or Match Penalty will be suspended for the remainder of the tournament.

 

2.                 Any suspensions incurred during the tournament will be served during the tournament.  Any carry over will be served during the team’s regular season games.
