After
completing an average season, the players of the novice team obviously kept
their best hockey for the playoffs.
Winning 9 out of the last 10 games, and ahead of 13 other teams, they
took home the hardware on Sunday in Goderich in front of anxious parents and
coaches.
Having split games with Wingham earlier in the week,
the young Cyclones had no choice but to win both games on the weekend against
Goderich. Saturday’s game at home was exceptional and they took the win with a
6 – 2 score.
With one game
between them and the championship, they proved they were the rightful
recipients by finishing ahead of Goderich once again by a score of 5 to 3.
Congratulations
to the Novice Local League team for their valiant efforts throughout the
playoffs and for bringing home a trophy that has never before had the Cyclones
label attached to it.
