Support for the Humboldt Broncos
Submitted By Claude Leroux on Sunday, April 08, 2018
On Friday evening, just north of Tisdale, Saskatchewan, the unimaginable happened.  The Humboldt Broncos, a Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League team, were travelling to a playoff game in a neighboring town when their bus was involved in a horrific accident, claiming the lives of 15 members of their hockey family.

Listowel Minor Hockey Association would like to extend our deepest sympathies and let the Humboldt Broncos know that we stand with them, as all of Canada does.  The hearts of every player, coach, trainer, Mom, Dad, and volunteer within our organization mourns alongside the Broncos family.

This rural community in Northern Saskatchewan is not so different from ours; a small town, surrounded by farms with a big love of hockey.  Our community, and indeed our hockey community, is no stranger to tragedy. While we are unable to take away the pain the families will endure, we are able to help alleviate some of the financial burden undoubtedly facing the victims.

There will be a donation bucket at the Listowel Minor Hockey Association banquet this Friday, April 13th.  Please consider making a donation to support the Go Fund Me initiative, Funds for Humboldt Broncos. As we celebrate another successful hockey season, grateful that our hockey families are safe tonight, let’s wrap our collective arms around this small community by supporting their healing and recovery.
