Message to all LMHA Families and Officials
Greetings LMHA Families and Officials. We have been working tirelessly in order to ensure a safe and fun hockey season for all. We want to thank all parents, coaches and referees for their support during such a challenging time.

Our key focus all along has been to develop a safe program to ensure all our children can play hockey safely.

We have organized teams based on OMHA/WOAA requirements. The team structure and numbers may not seem perfect to everyone and as you may imagine complicated to deploy, but rest assured the team committee planned it fairly and logically. Their mandate was simple. Build 9 player teams with one goalie and get the kids on the ice for some physical activities.

Thanks to WOAA we have been able to build a small bubble league to play a few specific centers in a safe manner. This opportunity is certainly a great privilege that many other minor hockey organizations won't have. I want to highlight that many organizations can't get their kids on the ice due to outbreaks and unsafe conditions so let's not take for granted the opportunity we have before us.

Sportsheadz Mobile Application

New This Season

We are rolling out the use of a Mobile App extension of our website called sportsheadz. This application will immediately give families a mobile application that shows scheduling, team communications and above all else the ability to electronically perform COVID health checks. Coaches have begun setting up their teams.

What do we need to do?

First you need to download the sportsheadz application for your mobile devices app store. Then create an account using the email address you typically use for LMHA communications. Then once coaches/managers are done populating the teams you will automatically see your team, schedule and check in functionality.

How do Health Checks work?

Simple. Go into the sportsheadz application, find the event for that day. (which you can check in to no greater than 8 hrs before it starts) and select your player and check in, then go back to the main screen for that event and check yourself in. It is possible for team officials to also check in the players, but we need to work that out with Coaches and Managers before implementing. Each Individual (Parent/Guardian) will have to have their own unique account. Reference Guide for Parents http://support.mbsportsweb.ca/kb/a125/app-login-for-guardians-parents.aspx

Arena Protocols Reminder

Home

  • Home and away teams and parents enter thru same entrance 15 minutes before – if Northeast door, home team in room 3 and visitors in room 1 (girls share room 2) northwest would be home in room 6 and visitors in room 4 (girls share room 5)

  • Doors lock 10 minutes after start of ice time (discuss use of gatekeeper/contact person if do not arrive before doors are locked)

  • Both teams stay in room until ice is ready and enter ice surface through same gates (While maintaining social distancing measures)

  • Parents head up directly to assigned seating area

  • Ref’s and timekeepers are booked and paid for by minor hockey

Away teams are responsible for their own health checks.

In Conclusion

I want to thank you all for the continued support and interest. We are looking forward to beginning the season shortly and are prepared to take actions in order to provide the safest experience for our players, coaches and officials. I also wanted to explicitly thank our volunteer coaches who are tasked with not only coaching hockey but having the responsibility of ensuring all protocols are followed. Finally we want to thank all players who have been moved age groups in order to ensure we have the required numbers for everyone to play. Let’s all ensure our coaches and players are acknowledged for this.

Thank you all!!!
