AE Winning Streak Continues
The Pee Wee AE's continued strong play resulted in a solid 4-1 victory over a persistent Kincardine squad. The Cyclones now have a three game winning streak and are growing more confident with each game.
The real story in this one was the fine play of goaltender Steven Gottfried. Gottfried playing his best game of the year came up with several key saves. When the offence finally got going, Listowel proved too much for the Kinucks. Mid way through the first, Tyler Russell scored high glove side when sent in alone by Matthew Koch and Graden Geiger. The teams would go back and forth for the remainder of the first and all of the second. With great goaltending at both ends, the score would remain 1-0 after two periods of play. The Cycs came out strong in the third. Owen Bender made it 2-0 drilling in a low one from the slot. Drew McKee and Eric Sousa picked up the assists. Minutes later, Kincardine would answer making it 2-1. However, this would be as close as they would come. Matthew Koch would strike with a nifty wrister assisted by Tyler Bannerman and Blake Laidlaw. Austin Service rounded out the scoring when he went top shelf on an unassisted breakaway. Final Score Listowel 4 Kincardine 1. Pee Wee AE's next home action is Wed.
