Cyclones win Glancaster Bombers Veterans Tournament
The U11 REP Tier 1 team travelled to Ancaster this past weekend
to compete in the Glancaster Bombers Veterans Memorial Tournament. The
extremely well run tournament celebrates our Veterans so it was great for our
kids to take part.
First
game saw a tough match up against the East Elgin Attack resulting in a 6-4 loss
leaving a tough road ahead to make it to Sunday. The team came out
blazing in the next 3 games with convincing wins against Stoney Creek,
Glancaster and Sarnia which got them 1st in their pool. An early
Sunday morning semi-final saw the boys continue their strong play resulting in
another dominant win against the Haldimand River Kings. This set up
a second chance against the undefeated East Elgin Attack. The kids
brought their best game of the season right from the drop of the puck.
2-2 after 1 and then a 3-2 lead after the 2nd period set up a 3rd period
that has proven difficult in recent weeks. This time though the
cyclones increased their intensity and wave after wave attacked the
attack!! This led to a 7-2 win clinching a much deserved
championship. Great tourney win led by great defensive play, solid
goaltending including 2 shutouts and some high-flying offense. Next
up 3 more season games to prepare for Silver Stick in 2 weeks.
