The U11 Tier 2 Cyclones had an action-packed weekend at the tournament, showcasing both skill and determination through each game. Here's how their journey unfolded:
Game 1: Cyclones 4, West Lorne Comets 2
The Cyclones kicked off their tournament with a strong win over the West Lorne Comets. It was a tightly contested match, but the Cyclones pulled ahead with a 4-2 victory. Landon Montgomery was the standout player in this game, earning Player of the Game honors for his outstanding goaltending. He made key saves, keeping the Comets at bay and giving his team the confidence to push forward.
Game 2: Cyclones 7, Mitchell Meteors 3
Next up, the Cyclones took on the Mitchell Meteors. The game was a showcase of offensive firepower, as the Cyclones dominated with a 7-3 win. Emmett Neves earned Player of the Game with a stellar performance that included a goal and relentless pressure in the offensive zone. His hustle and tenacity were a major factor in the Cyclones maintaining control throughout the game.
Game 3: Cyclones 4, Kincardine Kinucks 0
In their third game, the Cyclones faced off against the Kincardine Kinucks and delivered an impressive 4-0 victory. The defense was rock-solid, with Mackinnon Coghlin earning Player of the Game for his outstanding defensive play. Coghlin's relentless skating and ability to shut down Kincardine's forwards helped secure the shutout, and he was a key part of the team’s success.
Game 4: Cyclones 2, West Lorne Comets 4 (Finals)
Unfortunately, the Cyclones ran out of steam in the finals, losing 4-2 in a rematch against the West Lorne Comets. After three back-to-back games, fatigue set in, but the team continued to fight hard. Holden Macewan stood out with an incredible Player of the Game performance, showcasing his exceptional speed and effort even as the team was exhausted. Macewan's determination and relentless work ethic helped keep the pressure on West Lorne throughout the game, but ultimately, the Cyclones couldn’t clinch the victory in the final.
Despite the loss, the boys should be proud of their strong performance throughout the tournament. The team demonstrated grit and teamwork every step of the way. They left it all on the ice, and the coaching staff is incredibly proud of the effort!
