u13 Cycs bust the Defenders!
Our U13 Listowel Cyclones battled hard and came out with a gritty home game win, beating a physical Drayton Defenders White Team!
Our very own U13 Cyclones came out buzzing, scoring 4 first period goals, jumping out to a hot 4-0 lead before settling in and battling hard to an eventual 5-3 win against a gritty Drayton team.
The first period was an absolutely electric start, with the Big B, Brendan Bradley sniping the first goal of the game off a Logan Richardson pass less than a minute and a half into the game.  Bradley would dominate again this evening, finishing the game with his second hat trick of the season!
Not wanting to be left out, Luke Hurst got to work in front of the net less than a minute later battling for the puck and letting a quick shot go, finding the back of the net!   Absolutely stand out performance; great job Luke!
A thumbs up and thank you to Carter Ropp who was called up from the u11 team, having to play a back to backer.  Without complaint, Carter came out, worked hard to keep the puck out of our end and passed the test with flying colours in the O-zone, assisting on one of the Hurst goals in the first!
The second period was a much tighter affair as Drayton found an extra gear, notching a goal late in the second, but not to be outdone, #12 (Bradley) responded a minute later, to wipe it back off the board with his third of the night.
All this scoring would not have been possible without the consistent net front presence and solid forecheck of Austin McIntosh, Noah Contardi and Max Viol.  Bonus points also go to Max for the killer pre-game threads; definitely in the running for best dressed Cyc!
The ever present dynamo that is Ollie Gutknecht had a fantastic game punching above his weight, playing an amazing 200 ft game, assisting on a goal in the first while back checking like an absolute animal.
A special shoutout to our defensive core of Bartmann, Richardson, and Smith who passed the assignment with flying colours,by working hard in both ends, battling hard defensively then firing point shots and moving the puck with exceptional confidence in the O-zone!  This could not be more evident as in our Player of the Game Kohen Smith, who battled hard defensively then capitalized in the O zone with his first goal of the season (no matter what the gamesheet says)!
All this stellar play could not have been possible without a great performance between the pipes by double 3's, Mason Ireland, making key saves late in the third as Drayton tried to mount a final charge.
The U13 Cyclones 1's next game is coming up Sunday November 2nd, 6:55 pm at the PMD Arena Arena, where we are going to take it to the Drayton Defenders (Black) in their own Barn!
