Bantam AE win Home Opener
The Bantam AE Cyclones hit the ice following a week of anticipation. Action initially appeared to be slow, but midway through the first period the team began to gain confidence and strength, which ultimately led to the 11-5 victory over Normanby.
Things didn't begin to roll until half way through the first period when we grabbed a couple of powerplay goals, but Normanby answered back with two of their own! During the last five minutes of the first period, the Cycs really started to push things along moving the puck well, scoring four more unanswered goals ending the period at 6-2.
The Bantam AE Cyclones completely dominated the second period out-working and skating the opposition. Mitchell Smith was solid in net, providing the team with some timely saves. The Cycs moved into the third period with a 10-2 lead!
In the third period, Normanby regrouped and chipped away at the Cyclones lead. The final score was eleven to five for the Cyclones.
Goals were scored by Cory Wilson, Jackson Cox, Cody Matheson, Alex Balthes, Clark Askin, Jacob Askin, Paul Lockie and Robbie Couto. The entire team contributed to setting the stage for these goals. The team effort was well recognized. Good work Cyclones.
