Tie in Durham for Novice LL
Submitted By MaryLynne Ament on Tuesday, February 17, 2009
The Novice LL fought for a 2-2 tie in Durham Saturday am.

The Novice LL squad played a determined Durham team Saturday morning.  Durham got on the board first in the opening period, but the Cycs were quick to answer back with a great unassisted effort by center Nathan Hallman who tied the game at one .  The awesome defense of Anne Rothwell, Jake Zyta, Logan Jacklin and Dietrich Westberg worked  hard infront of goaltender Lucas Matheson who came up with some great saves to keep the game close.  Listowel went ahead in the 2nd when winger Travis Bannerman showed great hustle to put us up 2-1, with the helper going to D-man Westberg who worked hard throughout the game.  Forwards Clemmer, Wall, Judge, Ament and Johnston had some scoring chances which were turned away by the Durham netminder.  In the third an unfortunate scramble in the crease and a slow whistle by the ref allowed the Durham squad to ease the puck over the goal line to tie up the game.  The best digger award went to Logan Jacklin and the hardest worker went to Lucas Matheson. Great effort!!
Absent and missed from the match were Layton and Cassidy.

The Novice LL squad look forward now to starting their playoffs on Mon. Feb. 23rd @7pm  at home.  Go Cycs Go !!
