Bantam Reps Win Opener of WOAA Final
The Bantams swept the Goderich Sailors in 3 straight games, by scores of 9-0, 9-1 and 7-0, to earn a berth in the final against Kincardine.
In game 1 at Kincardine the Cycs game out flying in the first period and opened the scoring 3 1/2 minutes in, as John McKeown banged home a loose puck, with help from Luke Binning and Darren Kerr. With a minute left in the period, Conner Dewar sent Binning in all alone with a nice pass and Binning made no mistake give the Cycs a 2 goal lead. McKeown then replayed his first goal as he banged home another in front of the net off a Binning rebound, in the first minute of the second. Halfway through the period Ben Verkley scrored on a slapshot from the point, with an assist from Kyle Sippel. Later in the period a bad bounce would result in Kincardine's only goal of the game, as a Listowel clearing attempt hit a Listowel player and ended up in the net.
The third period saw no further scoring and Listowel came away with a 4-1 victory in game one. Brett Fletcher earned the victory in Listowel's net.
