ATOM A/E'S START SEASON WITH A WIN!
The atom a/e cyclones traveled to Mitchell Thursday to start the season and came away with a 3-2 win in a barn burner against the Meteors
Listowel took the lead mid way through the first period with a goal from Ausin Mcgrath, assisted by Matt Senek and Reid Gooding. They held onto the lead for the balance of the period thanks to some outstanding defensive efforts from Ben Bowman, Reid Gooding, Lucas Jamieson, Cooper Miller and Reid Wareham.
Mitchell came out hard in the second keeping a lot of the play in Listowels end but solid goaltending from Nicholas O'grady and Sam Johnston kept Listowels lead until late in the period. With Less then a minute left in the 2nd Mitchell found the corner of the net to tie the game at 1 a piece. The period ended tied to spit the efforts in the corner from Brett Macleod and the scoring chances in front of the net from Michael Uptigrove.
The Cyclones were hungry for a win in the 3rd. Derek Fischer scored early in the frame to give Listowel a 2-1 lead with another assist going to Gooding, but the home team tied it again seconds later. Will Calder stepped in to help the defence keep the Meteors at bay, and Listowel had many scoring chances from there speedy forwards before Andrew Bauman potted the winner with 53 seconds left in the game assisted by Jamieson.
