Novice LL commence playoffs.
Novice LL defeated by Durham and Hanover in two very close games to start the playoffs.

February 23rd the Cycs welcomed Durham for game one of their round robin playoff schedule.  The team was welcomed to the ice by a large group of supportive fans armed with horns and clappers and some extremely catchy cheers!  Durham was not swayed by this enthusiam and came to play starting the scoring in first period.  Listowel tried hard to solve Durham's goaltending with many chances in the second and third periods.  Durham added another goal to seal the deal at 2 goals to zero.   The Cycs worked hard and unfortunately it was too little too late against a competitive opponent and time ran out .  Well done team, hard work will pay off!  Go Cycs!

On February 24th the Novice LL squad traveled to Hanover for game two and were ready to redeem themselves.   Hanover opened the scoring in the first when goaltender Lucas Matheson made a great initial save by knocking the puck down, unfortunately a Hanover player was able to get a stick on the rebound and push it over the line.  Great things were happening as Cycs defenders Anne Rothwell, Jake Zyta and Dietrich Westberg and Logan Jacklin worked hard to get the puck up the boards and out of our end allowing for some offensive chances. Brent Clemmer stunned the Hanover team 13 seconds into the second period with a great effort to put the puck by the Hanover goalie with help from linemates Marlee Ament and Seth Johnson who moved the puck forward quickly off the faceoff.  Listowel continued to press and have many scoring chances with help from Nathan Hallman, Liam Cassidy, Jake Layton, Brandon Wall and Travis Bannerman.  Hanover scored late in the second to go up 2-1, but the Cycs didn't stop, they continued to work at a comeback with the defense hustling to keep the puck in the offensive end, unfortunately they were unable to solve the Hanover netminder, despite a great effort in the dying minutes with the goalie pulled and an extra attacker the Cycs were unable to tie things up.  It was a job well done by all, the next match up sees Hanover visiting Listowel on Sat. Feb.28th at 10am......GO CYCS GO!!

Hardest Worker award went to Lucas Matheson and Best Digger went to Marlee Ament.
