Novice Reps Add Two More Wins
Another successful weekend as the local boys picked up two more wins in league play as they climbed to the top of the standings

On Saturday, the team travelled to Goderich for their first meeting against the Sailors.  Both teams were undefeated in league play to this point.  Goderich opened the scoring with 3:22 remianing in the first period, but Riley Kuepfer tied things up shortly thereafter with assists from Sam Town and Sage Buchanan.  Listowel went ahead early in the second period on a nifty goal by Kuepfer with assists from Brett Reesor and Jake Zyta.  Goderich would tie it up 3 minutes later to end the period at a 2-2 tie.  Listowel took the lead for good early in the 3rd period on a goal by Eric Vander Eyk from a pass by Town just 20 seconds into the period.  Vander Eyk would score again 7 minutes later to put the team up 4-2.  Assists to Keaton Yungblut and Brandon Wall.  Goderich would make it close on a quick power play goal but Eric Vander Eyk would complete the hat trick on a goalmouth scramble 10 seconds later.  Assists to Keegan Long and Town.  Goderich would add a late goal but their comeback fell short as the Listowel team won 5-4 in a close game.  Travis Bannerman was solid in net as he made timely saves when needed.
On Sunday, Walkerton came to town to face a confident home squad.  The Listowel team was all over the visitors and won many of the battles.  Slick passing and some great forechecking proved to be too much for the visitors as the local team skated away with a 6-0 victory.  Goal scorers were Riley Kuepfer with the hat trick, Eric Vander Eyk (2) and Keegan Long (1). Assists to Sam Town (2), Sage Buchanan (2), Keaton Yungblut (1) Jake Zyta (1), Brandon Wall (1), Vander Eyk (1), Long (1), Dietrich Westberg (1) and last but not least Connor McGrath with one assist after coming back from a short spell on the injury list.   Travis Bannerman was again solid in net with the shutout as Walkerton struggled to get shots on net.
Walkerton will be looking for revenge this coming Saturday as the Cyclones hit the road for their only game this week.  Good luck boys !!
