Bantam’s Win a Pair on the Weekend
The Bantam Reps continue to show improvement as they beat Wingham and Mitchell over this past weekend

Trying to build momentum after a good Tillsonburg tourney the local Cycs stormed into Wingham for a convincing 11-3 victory then used 4 3rd period goals to beat Mitchell 5-1.

Saturday’s tilt in Wingham was never really in doubt as the Cycs scored 4 1st period goals on route to the 11-3 victory. The veteran line of Tyler Hak, Nathan Deitz and Andrew Gooding provided a lot of the offense as together they accumulated 8 goals and 10 assists. Also cashing in where Broedy Karelse (goal & assist), Caleb Warren (goal & assist), Keeton Willis (2 assists), Blake Buchanan (goal), Drew McKee (assist) and Scott Corbett (assist).

Sunday night saw the Cycs host Mitchell, and despite it being Halloween the local lads where not in the giving mood. The 1st 2 periods saw the Cycs maintain a slight territorial edge but just couldn’t solve the Mitchell defense as bad bounces and good saves kept the Cycs off the board. With Mitchell ahead 1-0 Gooding sent Karelse in a breakaway only to have him hauled down, giving Listowel the always excited penalty shot. Karlse made no mistake as he scored using a sweet deke. The break seemed to inspire the hometown Cycs as just a minute or so into the 3rd Graeden Geiger broke in alone and roofed a shot to the top corner (Riley Thompson drew the assist). Then a few minutes later the flood gates opened as the Cycs scored 3 times within a minute & half. Geiger and Karelse each scored their 2nd and Keeton Willis potted a nice feed from Dietz. That was lots of offense as Steve Gottfried would shut the door with another solid performance.

The Bantams have a couple more games next week as they host Milverton on Sunday night then travel to Goderich on Monday night.
