Bantams finish busy week with 3 wins & a loss

The Bantam Reps just finished one of their busiest weeks of the year with wins over Brussels, Teeswater & Minto while losing a close one in Seaforth

The local Cycs handled Brussels and Teeswater pretty easy posting wins of 11-0 and 15-3 respectively. Obviously most of the players hit the game sheet during those games with Tyler Robinson picking up both wins. The tougher matches of the week where the game in Seaforth versus the top place Stars and the home game on Sunday night against the Minto Mad Dogs.

The game in Seaforth saw the local lads get off to slow start giving up 2 first period goals. Then as the game progressed the young Cycs seemed to find their legs and started competing for the puck. Broedy Karelse would cut the lead in half as he tipped in a Drew McKee shot but Seaforth would respond quickly running the score back up to 2. In the 3rd the rink seemed tipped a little more in the Cycs favour but it wasn’t until late in the period that Tyler Hak would again draw the Cycs to within one (assists Andrew Gooding, Keaton Willis). With the Cycs pressing and on the power-play Willis looked like he had tied it with just seconds left but a controversial in-the-crease call went against the Listowel lads ending the game in a 3-2 loss.

Sunday night saw the Bantams host a good Mad Dog team from Minto. The 1st period saw the Minto team dominate, hemming the Cycs in their own end for most of the period. Solid goaltending from Steve Gottfried kept the Mad Dogs off the board; however Minto would open the scoring in the 2nd. The 3rd period would again prove to be the Cycs strong period as Hak, while on the power-play, put the home team on the board just minutes into the frame (assists Nathan Dietz). This seemed to spark the offense as the Cycs would score 4 more time in the period on route to the 5-1 victory. Hak would complete the hat trick while Karelse and Caleb Warren would round out the scoring. Note the Warren goal was a thing of beauty as all 5 Cycs, on the ice, touched the puck before Warren sniped it home. Picking up assists in the period where Gooding (2), Karelse (2), Hak and Cole Fletcher.

With the 3 wins this past week the Bantams have now pushed their record to just over 500, however with a tournament this weekend in Elmvale they must get off to better starts in games if they want to continue improving their record. This weekend they are matched up against Cayuga at 3:00 and St George at 6:15 on Friday then play the host Elmvale Coyotes Saturday at noon.
