Bantams split weekend games

The Bantam Reps toppled the Woolwich Wildcats 9-3, then lost 5-2 to the Ice Dogs of BCH



On Saturday the local lads travelled to St Jacobs for an exhibition game against the Woolwich AE team. The game started off fairly even however as the game progressed the Cycs skating and passing started to takes it toll on the Wildcats. Woolwich narrowed the lead to 5-3 late in the 2nd however the Cycs would explode for 4 more goals then cruised to the 9-3 victory. Caleb Warren would complete the hat trick, while Riley Conners notched a pair. Tyler Hak, Broedy Karelse, Graeden Geiger & Cole Fletcher would round out the scoring with assists going to Hak, Karelse, Conners, Geiger, Fletcher, Blake Buchanan & Michael McMurren

Sunday’s game would be a total opposite as the skilled and much bigger BCH Ice Dogs came to town. This game had lots of pace and hitting to keep the fans on the edge of their seats. BCH would opening the scoring on the power-play mid-way through the 1st, then added 3 more within a two minute span in the 2nd.  Andrew Gooding would get the home team on the board late in the 2nd with Hak & Fletcher picking up the assists. The Ice Dogs would replay quickly boosting there led back to 4, however to the Cycs credit they never quite and where rewarded when Keaton Willis knocked one home of a face-off (Warren assisted). The Cycs continued to press and created several chances however they where unable to bend the twine and fell 5-2.

Coach Bruce Fitzgerald noted that despite the teams loss on Sunday, “they are started to play more spirited when called upon, we just have to get used to playing that way all the time”. The teams next game is in Mildmay on Tuesday night then back home on Sunday against Wingham (both games are @ 7:00)
