Bantam AE's off to Semi Finals with Huntsville
The Ae's came off an emotional win over the Goderich Sailors to win the WOAA championship and head to the quarter finals against the Collingwood Blackhawks.
The series would start in Listowel with game 1 going to Listowel by a score of 4-1. The boys came out ready to play despite being down a couple of players they were determined and with a great team effort came away with a convincing victory.
Game 2 would see the locals head to Collingwood for an afternoon tilt. After getting off to a sluggish start and managing very few chances in the first period the boys got rid of their bus legs and poured it on in 2nd period and then held on in the 3rd period to win game 2 by a score of 4-1 and take a 2-0 series lead heading back for game 3 on family day.
Game 3 would have the Blackhawks facing elimination come out flying taking it to the cyc's from the first face-off and they controlled the game the entire way and handed the cyc's a loss of 3-0.
Game 4 was played back in Collingwood after having 4 days off from the series the boys got on the bus determined to finish the series off. After having lack luster 1st periods in previous 2 games the boys came out flying in game 4 scoring 25 seconds into the contest. They would add another with some solid forechecking to go up by 2. They then ran into some penalty trouble and Collingwood would get 1 back to make it 2-1 after 1.
The second period was back and forth with solid goaltending at both ends and it wouldn't be till late in the 2nd when the cyc's would add another to make it 3-1. With the cyc's buzzing around the collingwood goal to end the 2nd the blackhawks would take a penalty with no time left on the clock and Listowel would start the 3rd with the powerplay.
The cyc's knew if we scored on the pp it would be tough for the blackhawks to come back, and they did just that scoring 10 seconds into the 3rd making it 4-1. But the Blackhawks didn't quit scoring a minute later to make it 4-2. Listowel would add a goal with 9 minutes left to go up 5-2 and that's the way it would finish giving the cyc's the series win 3 games to 1.

Next up for the Cyc's will be the OMHA semi finals against the Huntsville Otters. Games have not been set-up but the boys are looking forward to the challenge and hope to see lots of support at the rink.
