Atom Reps Finding Their Grove
The team looked to have a bit of redemption on November 15 in Walkerton, as just 5 days before they gave up a 2-1 loss at home versus the Capitals.  Carter Servais opened the night with 2 goals in the 1st period.

At the end of period 1, Listowel found themselves with a 3-0 lead thanks to Chet using the boards with a slick give-and-go to himself, that left the Capitals defenseman a bit flat-footed.  This duo didn’t let up in the 2nd period as both Chet and Carter both netted one more each.  Finally in the 3rd, Walkerton snuck one past Josh but again it was Carter who scored on a breakaway to give Listowel a 6-1 win.  Carter’s 4-goal performance looked very similar to San Jose’s Tomas Hertl’s effort in his 4-goal game against the Rangers in October.  Rumour has it Tomas’ father treated him to an A&W burger after the game.

On the 17th, Listowel played host to Saugeen Shores.  Carter Servais buried one in the top corner, and under a minute later, Carter Coombs found the mesh as well.  Part way into the 2nd period Taytt broke down the ice producing his own breakaway, but before he could pull the trigger, he was hauled down which resulted in a penalty shot.  Taytt took everything his father had taught him so far, forgot it all, and made a dazzling shot that missed the goalie and hit the net.  Saugeen had many obstacles in their pursuit of the Listowel net-minder.  Smitty and Mad Dog continued to impress Coach Jason with constant back-checking, thus resulting in many spoiled chances for Saugeen to get set up in the offensive end.

The 3rd period ended up being Carter Coombs’ time to shine, and he certainly did not disappoint.  Adding 2 more goals, Carter celebrated the hat-trick giving Listowel all the breathing room they needed for a 5-0 win.

With not a great deal of rest, it was Mount Forest looking to take a piece out of Listowel in Clifford on the 18th.  TSN borrowed my notes from the game and have not returned them as of yet.  What I can report is Jordan and Benny each had a pair or goals, and Tayttum and Owen each bounced one in as well.  Carter Coates, and Colin both played their positions well making sure when Tayttt and Jordan were pounding the net from the blue line, Carter and Colin pulled back to help make sure there were no fast break opportunities for the Rams to capitalize on.  Josh tallied his 2nd shutout in a row, which has got to have him close to the top of the league for goals against average.

With a 3 game win streak in tact, Mount Forest came to town on the 24th with thoughts of spoiling Listowel’s streak.

The Rams left nothing at home as they did their part in keeping the 1st period scoreless until with only .8 seconds left, Carter Servais snuck one past the Ram’s net minder.  Benny not to be out done, kept the pressure at the far end and was not disappointed with his effort as he gave Listowel a 2-0 lead.  Carter Coombs tried desperately to pull a wrap-around but out of the corner of his eye saw Camden positioned perfectly in the slot and he made no mistake.

Late into the 2nd period, and early on in the 3rd, Listowel kept surging forward, and the next 3 goals came from Carter Servais with 1 and Chet with 2.  With only minutes left, Josh’s bid for 9 periods of keeping the opponent off of the score sheet came to a halt as Mount Forest had added pressure in front of the net which finally resulted in a goal.

Listowel celebrated its 4th straight win with a 6-1 show against Mount Forest.    Defensively the team has only allowed 5 goals in the last 6 games, and along with scoring from many different players, play at both ends of the ice seems to be progressing in the right direction.
