Atom AE Season Wrap-Up
Last night the Atom AE Cyclones travelled to Mitchell to play a one game play-off for a chance to head to the WOAA Neilson division finals.

The Cyclones began the game with a little jump.  They had control of the puck for much of the period, and spent a large amount of time in the offensive zone.  However, they were able to generate very little in terms of shots on net, and the period would end scoreless.

Heading into the second the Cyclones continued to play well.  Once again, they were unable to generate much in terms of scoring chances.  After Listowel was unable to capitalize, Mitchell was able to score midway through the period to take a 1-0 lead.  Following the goal the Cyclones found themselves two men short.  Mitchell would capitalize on the powerplay opportunity to take a 2-0 lead before the end of the period.

The parade to the penalty box continued into the third and Mitchell would add another powerplay goal to begin the period.  From there, Listowel would find a little life once again.  The team was finally able to find the back of the net with just under five minutes remaining.  With a little jump in their step the team looked for the next goal.    It was not meant to be though, as Listowel would be penalized three times in the last three minutes, along with one going the other way, and Mitchell would add an empty net goal to make the final 4-1.

Although it always hurts losing the last game of the season, we did have a successful season.  From game one to our final defeat on Saturday, the team has come a long way.  Individually every player has improved, and the players came together as a team as well.  We hope that every player enjoyed the season, and we look forward to seeing you on the ice next season.
