Submitted By Scott McDonald on Monday, November 03, 2008
The Listowel Atom Cyclones had a strong weekend outscoring their opponents 13 - 4 in two strong wins. On Saturday, the Cyclones opened with an 8 - 1 victory on the road at Saugeen Shores. This was followed by a strong home performance with a 5 - 3 win over Goderich.

On Saturday, Listowel had a pair of goals from Bailey Matheson and Reese Johnston to lead the attack. Bryce Fletcher opened the scoring in the first with the assist going to Matheson. Johnston then scored his first of the afternnon on an assist from Carter Collinson. In the second the Cyclones got goals from Carter Collinson, two from Matheson, and Wade McPhee to make the score 6 -1 after two. Assist went to Reece Reading, Collinson with two, and Lane Buchanan. Listowel closed out the third with goals from Johnson and Buchanan, with assists from Collinson and Parker Yungblut. The defence team of  Reading, Ben Rothwell, Curtis Jackson and Yungblut all had strong games for the visitors. Jake Nethercott had an excellent  game between the pipes for Listowel to earn the win.
On Sunday, Listowel earned some redemption after a last minute loss the previous weekend against Goderich. This week there was a strong team performance to earn the win. Wade McPhee led the Listowel scoring with two goals. Bryce Fletcher had a strong game with a goal and three helpers. Parker Yungblut opened the scoring for Listowel with a blast from the point. Flecher then scored midway through the second to give Listowel its first lead, with the assist going to Ben Rothwell. It didn't take Listowel long to add to the lead with a goal from Wade Mcphee just 9 seconds later. The assist on this goal went to Fletcher and Josh Gottfried. Before the end of the second, Carter Collinson gave Lisrtowel a three goal lead assisted by Gottfried. McPhee then closed out the scoring in the third assisted by Fletcher. Braeden Ellis has a strong game in the net for Listowel making several key saves.
