Listowel Stuns Mitchell
The Midget Reps played a solid game of defence to come out on top tonight as they beat the Mitchell Midgets 3-0.

With the rest of a huge week of hockey still looming, the Midget Reps took on Mitchell in regular season play on Tuesday night. The game started off very slow for Listowel as the hard hitting Mitchell team suprised
Listowel with numerous thundering bodychecks in the opening minutes.

Listowel stuck to their game plan and at 6:02 left in the first period Listowel broke open the game. The play started out deep in the Listowel end after a soft dump by Mitchell. The Listowel team broke the puck out of the defensive zone with a beautiful pass by Steven Kerr to George McKeown cutting across the center. George then took over beating his check in the neutral zone and busting with full speed around the Mitchell defence. George drove towards the goalie and with a "highlight reel deke" the game was 1-0. Listowel tried to keep the momentum flowing the next few shifts. Just minutes after the opening goal, Listowel added to their lead when Eric Boisvert busted wide and picked the top corner of the net to make the score 2-0. Assists on the play went to Ben Norman and Josh McPhee. To close out the first period with 1:41 left Listowel scored another goal as Jonathan Hunsberger potted a goal from the side of the net. Assisted by Corey Conners.

The Listowel squad worked hard throughout the second and third periods to retain their 3-0 lead and help goaltender David Irwin to backstop his first shutout of the season.

Listowel travels to Goderich on Thursday night and Saugeen Shores on Saturday. Their next home game is scheduled for Sunday night as they take on Walkerton.
