Listowel Midget Reps Dominate Kincardine
The Listowel Midget Rep Cyclones dominated the Kincardine Kinucks in games three and four to advance to OMHA quarter finals. After having split games one and two in Kincardine, the Midgets dug deep to play some of their best hockey of the season to create back to back wins finishing the series in game 4.

Game three was played on January 25, at home, with Listowel outworking Kincardine for most of the game leading to a 9-3 final score. All players played well in the win for the Midget Reps. Game four was again played at home this past Sunday. Listowel started the game playing their system of crash and bang hockey trying to create lots of scoring chances against the hard working Kincardine team. Listowel opened the scoring early in the first period as Justin Jacklin and Eric Boisvert broke around the Kincardine defence creating a two man breakaway.  Jacklin took the lead with a hard shot that fooled the Kincardine goalie who dropped the rebound on Boisvert’s stick allowing him to put it home making it 1-0. The first period ended in a 1-0 score.

The second period was marked by numerous penalties by both teams as the game started to get quite rough. Listowel’s penalty killing units seemed to be flawless as they stopped every opportunity thrown their way. Listowel would again answer on an odd man rush from Brett Buchanan and George “rush” McKeown.  Buchanan took the play deep into the Kincardine zone and put a nifty pass across the goal line to McKeown who somehow put the puck home to give Listowel the 2-0 lead. Boisvert increased Listowel’s the lead as he took a great pass from Blake Thompson putting home his second goal of the game. Listowel ended the second period with another goal in the final minutes as Steven Kerr took a drop pass from Mark Verkley. Steven picked the top corner over the Kincardine goaltenders shoulder to give Listowel a 4-0 lead to finish the period.

The third period was played to almost perfection for the Listowel team as they outplayed the Kincardine team who seemed to give up as the third period came to a close. Throughout all three periods, Listowel’s Ian Robinson had to be sharp to stop all the scoring attempts put towards them as he got the first shutout of the post season.

Listowel moves on to the OMHA quarters/WOAA finals to play a best of three series with Goderich. The series will likely start this coming weekend.
