The Cycs new found offense was too much for the visiting Sabres as the hometown team tallied 4 times in the 1st period then cruised to a 7-0 victory.
The AE’s registered a couple first on Sunday night versus Wallace, it was the first time the team registered 7 goals in a game and it was Nathan Flecther’s first shut-out of the season. The team’s offense picked up where it left off last game, as the Cycs bulged the twine 4 times in the 1st period. Ryan Young netted 2 in the first, while Vince Mc Nichol and Jason Hollinger each added singles giving the hometown team a 4-0 led after the 1st (picking up assists where McNichol, Alexander, Hollinger, Quipp, Elg). The 2nd period saw much of the same as the Cycs continuously pressured the Sabres in their own end resulting in both Dilan Boisvert and Ryan Nelson, hitting the score sheet. Both scored almost identical goals burying a shot from the slot (assists McNichol, Martin, Boisvert). Expectedly the 3rd period saw the Cycs let up a little as the play became sloppy. Although not tested often Fletcher made the saves he had to in order to preserve the shut-out. Young would score the only goal of the 3rd completing his hat trick (assists Elg, Hollinger), giving the AE’s the 7-0 victory.
Next action for the AE Cycs is next Sunday night @ 8:30 when BCH comes to town. The game should be a good one as the Cycs are looking to avenge their 3-2 overtime loss in the silver stick.
