Cycs host the Minto Mad Dogs
Novice LL wrap up '08-'09 season.

The Novice LL Cyclones came out flying in the last game of their successful season on Monday evening.  Both teams skated hard and worked relentlesssly to put the puck in the net in the first period, but the closest chance came on a breakaway by Seth Johnston who rang one off the post and thrilled the many Listowel fans.  Johnston would have numerous other chances along with hardworking forwards Jake Layton, Jaydn Judge, and Nathan Hallman.  Minto got on the board first in the second period when they snuck one by goaltender Travis Bannerman who had turned away some tricky shots.   Defense crew Lucas Matheson, Logan Jacklin, Anne Rothwell and Dietrich Westberg stood tall and kept the Mad Dogs chances to few.  Listowel got on the board in the third on an awesome effort by Westberg who stayed with the puck and didn't give up by stuffing it in the corner of the net behind the goalie, assists going to Brent Clemmer and Jaydn Judge who worked hard down low as well.  Jake Zyta worked hard in his new role as a centerman and had some great chances up front.  Minto made it 2-1, but Listowel didn't stop trying and continued to pressure to the very end when the Cycs pulled the goalie and had the extra man on with 8 second left and the face off just outside the Minto blueline.  Center Marlee Ament won the draw, pushed the puck forward and got a shot away just wide of the Minto goal in the dying seconds of the game.  The effort by the entire team was greatly appreciated by the fans and coaches alike.  The Best Digger went to Dietrich Westberg and the Hardest Worker went to a much deserving entire team.
Great job Cycs!! Congrats on a super effort and a great season.

Absent from tonights game were teammates Brandon Wall and Liam Cassidy.
