The Midget AE’s, head into Christmas with a convincing 6-0 victory over the Clifford Thunder.
The Cycs last 2 games before Christmas resulted in a pair of shut-outs… one against and one for. On Sunday the young men travelled to Zurich for a match against the 2nd place Thunder. The game was marred by what was at best was suspect officiating. Zurich scored 3 first period goals (2 on the power-play) to take a 3-0 lead. The Cycs where unable to maintain any sort of consistent pressure and despite getting several chances to score where held off the score sheet for only the 3rd time this year. Andy Leith was again solid in net for the AE’s but with no offense he would take the loss 3-0
Tuesday night the Cycs hosted the Clifford Thunder in their last game before Christmas. The AE’s where not gracious hosts as they dominated Clifford from the onset. Steve Cleary and Ben Verkley each recorded hat tricks as Listowel cruised to a 6-0 victory. Dilan Boisvert picked up 3 assists, Verkley had a pair, Justin Bauman & Jordan Rumph each tallied 1. Ryan Hak, put in another yeoman effort as he picked up his 4th shut-out of the year.
With only 2 games remaining in the league the team is preparing themselves for what hopes to be a good playoff run. Hard work and puck movement are still the key and over the last few games you can see this team play becoming more consistent. On behalf of the team we wish everyone a happy holiday season… the AE’s next game is Tuesday Dec. 29th vs Blyth.
