Novice Local White, U9, 2009-2010 (Listowel Minor Hockey Association)

    The Novice LL White team travelled to Drayton last weekend for their last tournament of the year.  They lost their first game to a talented Seaforth team 2-0.  Their second game was against the host team, Drayton.  All the previous games with Drayton were separated by one goal so we knew this would be a tough game.  With a good effort by all, Listowel won 2-1.  In the final game that would decide the championship of the B side, we were to play Mildmay.  We had not faced them this year but were able to scout them out before the game.  Our plan was to keep the play in their end and force ...

    The White Novice LL team had 2 games this weekend against the Walkerton Capitols and the Minto Mad Dogs.  The first game Friday night was against the Capitols who were looking to avenge their 5-2 loss to us previously in Walkerton.  It was nice to see everyone present and healthy after missing players last weekend due to sickness.    

    Due to a cancelled game, the Novice LL White's schedule was very quiet since the Minto Tournament.  The whole team was excited to get playing games again.  With 3 games on the Jan 22nd weekend was just what we wanted.   But someone forgot to tell that nasty FLU bug to leave us alone.  Many players battled with sickness leading up to the weekend, most of all our star goalie Seth.  With our best goalie in the hospital for the weekend and other players missing due to sickness or other committments, we would be 3 short for 2 of our games on the weekend.    

Both Novice LL teams entered the Minto Tournament in Harriston on January 10th.  The White team faced the Mount Forest Rams at 10am.  Our team started the game off slowly and the Rams opened the scoring just over 3 minutes into the game.  That seemed to wake up the Cyclones and they answered 45 seconds later with a goal from Nathan assisted by a nice pass from Jake.  The play went back and forth until Nathan scored an unassissted goal with one minute left in the second period.  Jacob scored 3 minutes into the 3rd period with assists going to nathan and Jonathan putting the Cyclones up 3-1.  ...

The Novice LL White team is half way through their season and are off to a great start. After 7 games they have 5 wins with only 2 losses. They started the season off with a home game against Drayton. With a later start to the season our players had less experience than the Drayton team. After a tight first period Drayton opened up the scoring with 2 goals. Our players battled back to make it 2-1 going into the 3rd period.
