Bantam’s Extend Winning Streak
The Bantam Cyclones earned 2 more victories this week over the Saugeen Shores Storm and the always tough Kincardine Kinucks

Last Wednesday night the Cycs made the trip to Southampton to face off against the Saugeen Shores Storm. The local lads were hoping to avoid the post tournament let down which sometimes happens after winning a weekend tourney. The 1st period saw both teams feeling each other out, however as the game progressed the Cycs began to take control. Leading 2-0 after the 1st the local lads added 3 more in the 2nd period then 5 more in the 3rd on route to a 10-0 victory. The team was lead offensively by Keaton Willis and Caleb Warren who each collected 5 points (Willis 4 goals & 1 assist – Warren 4 assists & 1 goal). Cole Dannemann picked up a goal & 2 assists, Matthew Koch had 2 goals, Bryce Fletcher a goal & assist, Riley Conners & Parker Yungblut each had 2 assists and AP Reese Johnson picked up a goal. Steven Gottfried earned his 1st shut-out of the season in net.

Next up was a home meeting against the always tough Kinucks. The Cycs knew that Kincardine would be out to avenge the earlier tournament loss. This game was a faced paced affair with lots of end to end action. Kincardine would open the scoring mid-way through the 1st period but the Cycs would answer with 2 goals before the end of the period. Warren would notch the 1st from Willis & Brenden Hall while Conners would get the 2nd from Drew McKee & Ben Rothwell. Some sloppy play by the Cycs in their own end resulted in the Kinuck's tying goal early in the 2nd period. However the Cycs tenacity would pay dividends late in the 2nd as they netted 3 goals in just over 2 minutes giving the local lads the 5-2 lead heading into the 3rd period.  Warren would collect his 2nd of the game from Owen Bender and Yungblut, Koch would bury a nice back pass from Broedy Karelse with Bender picking up the 2nd assist and Willis would round out the scoring flurry with a wrap around goal (Fletcher & Koch drawing assists). In the 3rd period the Kinucks worked hard to solve the Cycs defense but the group battled hard and Braeden Ellis made several key saves keeping Kincardine off the board, resulting in the 5-2 Cycs victory.

These 2 wins run the Cycs winning streak to 10 games and despite being pleased with the games results the coaching staff cautions the players, that the season is still very young & there is still lots of work to be done. The teams next action is another rematch with Kincardine in Listowel @ 7:00
