Bantam Complete Comeback & Capture WOAA title
After being down 2 games to none the Bantam Cycs won the next 3 over Kincardine to capture the Bantam “B” WOAA Championship.

Many expected the series between Listowel and Kincardine to be a close series and they were right as it took 5 games to determine the winner. Game 1 saw the hometown Cycs jump out to an early 3-0 only to see a determined Kinuck team find their stride in the 2nd period scoring 6 unanswered goals, then cruised to an 8-3 victory. In game 2 the Cycs looked to even the series by playing better defensively and capitalize on their scoring chances. This game saw the local lads hit several posts in the 1st period but yet it was Kincardine who jumped out to a 3-0 lead on a nice shot and a couple strange bounces. The Cycs hoped to find the same magic that Kincardine found in game 1 but could not as their comeback attempt fell just a little short, losing game two 3 to 2. Game 3 was in Listowel and saw the Cycs in a “must win” scenario. This was again another close game as the teams exchanged goals in both the 1st and 2nd period, however mid-way through the 3rd period the Cycs would bang home a rebound, which was the eventual winner giving them the 3-2 victory and life in the series. Game 4 in Kincardine saw a much more determined and confident Cyc team hit the ice. Their new found energy translated onto the score sheet quickly as they tallied with 4 1st period goals, then added 3 more in the 3rd on route to a 7-3 victory. With this victory the local lads tied the series at 2 games apiece and forced a game 5 showdown in Listowel. Again the Cycs determination was evident from the drop of the puck as they pressured the Kinuck defense, and were rewarded 5 minutes into the game. They then struck again less then a minute later and one more time before the end of the period. With the ominous 3-0 lead the Cycs continued their strong play adding another goal in the 2nd period on the power-play, then capped off the game in the 3rd as they held on for the 5-0 victory and the series win.

Not only was the win special as they captured the WOAA “B” Championship, but it truly showed the character of the team. Despite being down 2-0 in games they battled hard and never gave up, which in turn paid dividends as the bantams captured this title for the 2nd straight year. The team now advances to the OMHA semi-finals versus Strathroy.
