More Exciting Novice Action
The team played 3 more games over the last week ending with a 2-1 record.

First up was an exhibition match with the Wingham Ironmen.  The team came out strong with a quick goal by Owen from Ben and Coombsy.  The team kept the pressure on but it was Wingham who replied with a goal before Owen scored again from Brayden.  Then in the dying seconds of the period Mr. Coombs would put us up by 2 with an assist to Harrison.  The second period would see the teams trade goals with Ty getting the marker from Owen.

The 3rd would see the Cyc's score early again when Brayden converted a pass from Owen.  Wingham would get their third of the match before Owen would complete his hat-trick unassisted.  Before the conclusion of the game Carter Coombs would round out the scoring from Owen and Camden completing Owen's 6 point game.  At the end the teams competed in a shootout just for fun with all players getting a chance to shoot and show off their stuff.

Next up was a league tilt against the Goderich squad.  The Cyclones put the pressure on the Goderich netminder early and often leading to a 4-1 lead at the end of the first period.  Goals were from Owen, Camden, Caleb and Brayden with assists to Carter Coombs (3) and Ty (2).  The second was more of the first with the Cyc's extending their lead to 7-2 after 2.  Ben, camden and Coombsy scored for us with assists to Owen, Coombsy, Ty and Brooke.  The wall on defense (Drew, Logan, Jay, Carter Coates and Brooke) played hard through the 2 periods to limit the chances that Goderich had on our net.  The kids must have thought the game was over at this point as they fell asleep for the third (possibly the worst period they have played all season) and gave up two goals but managed to hang on for the 7-4 win.

Tuesday night was another tilt with the Mitchell Hawks.  This was a hard fought, physical game that saw us fall behind by 2 before Brayden found the twine off a great pass from Carter Coombs to close the gap to 1.  Mitchell would pot 2 more early in the third before Coombsy would score a goal of his own to cut the gap to 2.  The team pressed for the remainder of the game but could not get anything else to the back of the net.  Another improved effort against a good Mitchell team.

This weekend the team is off to face some high level competition in the Huntsville tournament and all the kids and parents are looking forward to having a fun time.

See you at the rink.
