Game in Review – Nov. 10, 2014 – Listowel AE vrs Elma Logan Wildcats Rep.
Our Rivals at Elma Logan were hoping for the same outcome with home ice advantage for the  rematch, but our team was not going to let that happen! With a short bench, our boys looked a little like David against his Goliath.

The Elma Logan team came out strong in all three periods of play, giving our net minder Hawthorne quite a work out! With the defense doing their best to push out an often 4 on 2 situation, the defense and goal tending certainly kept our team in the game.

Our first two goals came in the first period, both scored by Robinson. The first goal came when our team was 1 man down. The second goal came with 4.4 seconds left in the first period, leaving the Listowel fan base jubilant over the 2-0 score.

The Listowel fans hoped for smooth sailing for the rest of the game when Robinson scored his third goal with an assist from Reesor just 20 seconds into the period.  The Wildcats pulled up their socks after this goal and 2 minutes later scored their first goal. Robinson scored another short -handed  goal shortly thereafter, assisted by Wall. The Wildcats answered with another goal a mere 6 minutes later, putting  the pressure back on our forwards to shoot at the net. The Wildcats continued to come on strong, and the work out for Hawthorne between the pipes continued.  The second period ended with a 4-2 score.

The third period still found the Wildcats fighting hard. Our Listowel team were showing that they were a little tired, and started to bunch up. Some of the players emotions once again got the better of them, causing our short bench to be even shorter. Our team continues to rack up the penalties, which gives our fans pause as it almost cost the team the game. The Elma team scored their third goal, with 1.44 left in a 4 minute penalty. The Listowel fans started to get a little edgy!  The Elma team pulled their goalie with less than a minute left in the game to try and even the score, but excellent defensive play kept their team at bay. 4-3 win for Listowel AE. Congratulations team.
