Weekend Wrap-Up Nov.14
This past Saturday the Atom AE Cyclones played their second game of the season against BCH.

After a nail biting game on the road, the Cyclones knew they could expect more of the same at home versus a BCH team who plays stronger than their record would indicate.  BCH lived up to expectations early, coming hard out of the gate taking a 1-0 lead just four minutes into the game.  The Cyclones were up to the task though, as they began to take over play following the early goal.  The team played a much better game exiting their own zone, and as a result, played more of the game in the offensive zone.  Although they did have a few scoring opportunities, the first period ended with the Cyclones trailing by one.

The team continued to pressure into the second period.  All three lines put in good work including wingers Werth and Coelho who held BCH in their own zone for an extended period of time.  Following the strong shift Leroux, Wilson, and Balzer followed it up with a goal to tie the game.   Just two minutes later the line would score again thanks to the hustle of Wilson giving the team the lead.  The two teams would exchange a few scoring chances before the end of the period, but the Cyclones would take a 2-1 lead into the third.

Knowing that BCH would push to tie the game, the Cyclones defense also played a great game.  Alexander, McNevan, Wilken, Frey, and Schmidt looked good in their own zone, but held the offensive line as well.  They were able to keep BCH in check for most of the period, but the Ice Dogs were finally able to break through with just over four minutes remaining.  With the game now tied, the Cyclones did not sit back.  After a key save by Dietrich, the Cyclones went the other way with just under two minutes remaining.  This time the line of Evans, Kuepfer, and Matheson were able to score for the Cyclones to give the team the lead once again.  The team would add an empty netter to make the final score 4-2.

Congratulations to Wilson who won the player of the game jacket for his hustle which resulted in a goal, and a few other scoring chances for the Cyclones.

The team will now take an extended break from game action until next Thursday when they travel to Wingham followed by a home game against Zurich next Saturday and a home game versus Mitchell on Sunday.
