Red Doubled Up by Hanover
Listowel Novice LL Red lost the second half of its home-and-home series with the Hanover Falcons by a score of 4-2 on Wednesday.

Hanover got on the board first, scoring a pair of goals in the first half of the opening frame.  Red then answered before the period was out as Grayson Matheson finished off a give-and-go rush with Noah Hiemstra.

The Falcons, however, restored their two-goal lead before heading into the first intermission, netting a goal with only two seconds left in the period.

Listowel closed the gap to a goal again in the middle of the second period.  Some puck retrieval by Ruby Hillier led to a Kole Shiestel tally as he crashed the net and jammed in a rebound.

Hanover then capped the scoring on the next shift, as Callan Cabral netted his 4th of the night.

Goaltended Noah Szasz did well to control the speedy Falcons forwards.  Aiding him in the process was the defensive work of Matheson, Brynn Berfelz, Warner Hurst and Oliver Hershey.  Hershey’s two-way play was so strong, it earned him the Player of the Game medallion.

Forwards Spencer Henhoeffer, Finn Molenhuis and Nehemiah Dyck all had some in-tight chances, but were unable to get a puck past the goal line.

Red continues its playoff run on Saturday with a noon tilt against the West Grey Warriors at the Steve Kerr Memorial Complex.
