U9T1 Cycs split on the weekend
The U9T1 Cyclones came away with a split on the weekend with a 4-3 loss in Drayton on Saturday and an 11-1 win at home vs Shallow Lake on Sunday.

They may have played the best game of the year on Saturday against one of the top teams in the WOAA, the Drayton Defenders.  As seems to be the norm when these teams meet the Cycs would open the score on a goal from Maddox Birk set up by Tyce Passmore.  The Defenders would answer twice taking a 2-1 lead to the first intermission.  Late in the 2nd the home team would strike again taking a 3-1 lead to the final period.  An early power play would give the Cycs a chance to cut the lead in half which they would do as Ian Magee would bang in a cross ice feed from Birk.  A few minutes later Miles Good would take a feed from Magee and bury it to square the game at 3.  Again it was not meant to be as Drayton would tuck a wrap around home and end the game up 4-3.  Sully Meulensteen would get the Cyc chain on a day that it could have gone to anyone.

Sunday would see the Shallow Lake Lakers come to town for an afternoon tilt with the Cyclones.  With goalie Sully off on a family vacation, Miles Good would man the pipes for the first time this year and he would do a great job stopping all but one shot.  The Cycs would roll to a convincing win in this one and every player would hit the scoresheet led by Maddox Birk with 3 goals and 2 assists.  Tyce Passmore would add another hattrick and a helper, Ian Magee picked up 2 goals and an assist, Hunter Adamson would get 2 tallies and last but not least our usual rock on the point Brandt Donaldson would get his first full ice goal and add an assist.  The rest of the d-corp would all pick up assists on the day, Fin Long with 2, Oliver Gutnecht and Alton Sholdice with one a piece.  Again, too many choices to give the impact player of the game Cycs chain too but we thought "Goody" deserved it for stepping up to play night and doing a wonderful job!

The next phase of the U9 season starts soon and will see your Cyclones face off against Mitchell 1, Mid Huron 1 and Central Perth 1 in a round robin format.
