U13 Cycs pick up road win vs Huskies
The U13 Rep Cyclones travelled to Clinton on Tuesday night to play the newly amalgamated Mid Huron Huskies and came out with a 4-0 win.
The Cycs played a very solid game from start to finish in this one against a very hard working Huskies team. The Cycs opened the scoring mid way through the first when Zack Brooks sprung Tyse Hayter up the middle of the ice on a breakaway which he converted on. They added another one midway through the 2nd as Brooks and Patrick Magee made a couple of short passes to set up Hudson Ireland for the tally. The Huskies came hard for the last part of the 2nd period but were unable to breakdown the defense of the Cycs as the home team headed to the room down 2-0.
The road team came out hungry in the 3rd with the chance to string three wins together on the line. After an effective cycle in the Huskies end Hayter found Emerson Smith out front and he buried it to push the lead to 3-0. A few shifts later after a great pinch at the blue line to keep the puck in by Jade Campbell, P Magee came out of the corner and found Brooks open in the slot. Brooks found the back of the net to give the Cycs a 4-0 lead which would be the final.
The team did a great job of limiting the Huskies chances by keeping them to the outside but when they did get near the net Koen Martin was there to shut the door recording a shutout in his season debut for the reps.
The boys are off to South Muskoka this weekend for the Dan Bell Memorial Tournament.
