U13 Cyclones fall 3-2 to Walkerton
After a long break during which most of the team spent off the ice with various sickness the Cycs made the trip to Walkerton on Sunday night to take on the always tough Capitals and fell by a score of 3-2.
The first period was a battle from the drop of the puck and saw the Cyclones have to kill off two penalties which they did successfully. The first would end in a scoreless tie with both goalies making great saves and both teams playing stingy team defence.
The Caps would open in the scoring midway through the second, but it didn't bother the boys in red as they pushed back to tie the game less than a minute later when Hudson Ireland won a battle in the corner and found a wide open Tyse Hayter in front, Hayter would not waste the opportunity and wired a wrister home. The Caps would take the lead again a few minutes later but with a tenth of a second left in the period Waide Beirnes would spring Emerson Smith on a breakaway and he would bury it to tie the game at 2 heading to the third.
The final frame was a very even battle with not many scoring chances to be had by either team. Unfortunately for the visitors with 3 minutes left the Capitals managed to beat goalie Hunter Donegan who had played a great game to take a 3-2 lead. With the goalie pulled the Cycs pushed hard but couldn't get the equalizer and would go on to lose 3-2.
The boys are back at it Monday night as they travel up highway 23 to battle the Mitchell Meteors.
