U13 Cycs skate to a 2-2 tie with Meteors
The U13 Rep Cyclones squared off against their highway 23 rivals on Monday night that ended in a 2-2 tie.
Listowel jumped out to an early lead in this one as Jade Campbell found Hudson Ireland streaking down the wing, Ireland didn't disappoint and found the back of the net to give the visitors an early 1-0 lead. It didn't last long though as some sloppy defensive play resulted in a couple turnovers and two Mitchell goals to see the home side end the first period up 2-1.
Ireland seems to love the start of the period as less than a minute into the second frame he beat the Mitchell goalie to tie the game at two on a cross ice pass from Grayson Matheson.
The final period would not solve anything as the two teams traded chances but neither could find the back of the net. Listowel goalie Hunter Donegan came up huge in the third and was key to the team killing off a late Mitchell power play. The red hot Ireland unfortunately went awkwardly into the boards mid way through the period and was unable to finish the game due to a knee injury, lets hope it's not serious and we see him back in action soon.
No rest for this group now as they head to Durham to face the West Grey Warriors for the first time this season.
