U13 Cycs end road trip with a 1-1 tie with Mitchell
After a win on Saturday in Port Elgin and a loss on Sunday in Kincardine the Cycs travelled to Mitchell to play the always tough Meteors on Monday night and came away with a hard fought 1-1 tie.
This one was a closely contested battle from the opening faceoff with the teams scoreless after one period. Zack Brooks would open the scoring early into the 2nd, firing home a wrister from the top of the circle on a cross ice feed from line mate Tyse Hayter. The Meteors would tie it late and the teams would head to the third squared at one.
The third opened up a bit with the teams each getting chances, Cycs goalie Hunter Donegan and his Mitchell counterpart both came up big when needed preserving the single point for both teams.
One regular season game remains for the Cyclones as they travel to Durham next Wednesday to take on the West Grey Warriors. The middle of the top division in the WOAA is tight between Listowel, West Grey, Mitchell and Mid Huron, each team could finish as high as 3rd and as low as 6th.
