Listowel Wins Season Home-Opener
Well, here I am.  My shoulders are slumped and aching as they support my conspicuously empty head.  As I do my best not to spill my top-heavy glass of red onto the keyboard, I sit before a naked and dizzying screen (if that’s not a mental picture that could go places) I promise you another year of articles that hopefully, if nothing else, will entertain those who choose to lose themselves in my Pee Wee Rep write-ups.

Goderich land in Listowel with a 2-0 record and are aiming to mimic the Vancouver Canucks season stats at 3-0.

The first period play felt like what it might be like buying a car at a dealer other than at Hudson’s Pontiac or Listowel City Ford, where both teams, just like a salesman and a hesitant customer weren’t about to tip their hand too early, and kept play cautious without giving up any obvious weaknesses.

Then, with 7:34 left in the 2nd, Nich Verbeek finds the mesh with help from Cullen and Taytt.  Play starts to shift predominately to the Sailor’s end, and at 6:17 the fans watched as Conner wins a battle for the puck in the corner and feeds Ethan who is positioned perfectly out front which puts Listowel up 2-0.  As the momentum swings ever so slightly, Listowel finds themselves on the penalty kill, but the fore-checking Chet (say that 5 times) out-whit’s a Goderich defender behind the net and scores a short-handed goal to increase the lead.  Listowel’s defence show their relentless effort in keeping the puck in the Sailor’s zone, but a bad bounce causes a breakout and despite the great effort from Nic, as Colin rushes back to help out, Goderich’s speedy forwards find a hole to put one in past Lucas.  Sam decides to keep the wind from filling the Goderich sails and with 1:39 left, is rewarded for his ongoing drive and puts Listowel up 4-1 with a feed from Carter.  Now, with play opening up, the defence pairing of Jordan and Jordan start to cause havoc from the point as J.A. feeds J.D. and what looks a bit like the parting-of-the-sea, J.D. gets a few shots off that narrowly miss going in.  Not one to miss out on the action, Keegan rushes down and puts his team up 5-1 to finish the action in the 2nd period.

Goderich comes out in the 3rd not looking by any means to just let Listowel run away with this one, but at 8:20 Sam again puts another in and with 5 minutes left, Dan sees the replay on the jumbo tron as he adds to the Listowel lead.  Dustin had many chances, and worked hard to create his chances, but the puck just would not obey this game.

If Lucas was just shown by someone how to pose like Ken Dryden, you know towering over the net, resting his chin on the butt of the stick?  Along with Lucas’s calm demeanour, and his excellent positioning throughout the game, all that is missing in Lucas’s arsenal to resemble Dryden is 6 Stanley Cups.

Great game today guys making sure Goderich is keeping pace with Vancouver by handing them their first loss, and winning your first 7-1.
